Fire Up the Grill: Best BBQ Chicken Kabob Recipes
Planning a family BBQ or attending a neighborhood potluck this summer? Go ahead and ditch the usual hamburgers and hotdogs and try something different. This year, celebrate the sunshine season by grilling some BBQ chicken kabobs.
Not sure where to begin? We took care of the most difficult step and found the best mouth-watering recipes that will have you running to the grill.
Quick Tip: Unsure whether to use wood or metal skewers? Using metal skewers rather than wood will help your meat cook thoroughly in the center and don’t run the risk of burning or breaking into the grill.
SMOKY BACON BBQ KABOBS
Looking for a smoky dish packed with flavor? Try these delicious not-your-mother’s bourbon and bacon kabobs.

Ingredients:

2 chicken breasts, cut into pieces
-
8 bacon slices, cut into 1-inch pieces
-
1 cup barbeque sauce
-
1/4 cup bourbon
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
Instructions:
Preheat grill to 400 degrees. Combine barbeque sauce, bourbon and brown sugar in a bowl and mix well. Thread chicken and bacon pieces onto skewers and spread on BBQ mixture. Place kabobs on grill until fully cooked, roughly 10-15 minutes. Rotate the kabobs every 4 minutes to thoroughly cook all sides.
Serving size: 8 kabobs
ISLAND STYLE KABOBS
Interested in a tangier plate? This easy recipe is perfect for summer, especially if you want to bring some island flavor to your party.

Ingredients:

2 chicken breasts, cut into pieces
-
1 pineapple, chopped
-
1 red onion, cut into 1-inch pieces
-
1 cup barbeque sauce
-
2 tablespoons of soy sauce
-
1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
Instructions:
Mix together the barbeque sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil and ginger in a bowl. Add chicken and stir, then transfer to a bag and seal. Place in the refrigerator and allow to marinate for 2 hours. Once done, preheat the grill to 400 degrees. Thread chicken, pineapple and onion onto skewers and grill for about 10-15 minutes, turning every 4 minutes to ensure all sides are cooked.
Serving size: 8 kabobs
SWEET & SPICY BBQ KABOBS
If you’re not afraid to try something with a little more kick, grill up these sweet and spicy honey chipotle kabobs.

Ingredients:

2 chicken breasts, cut into pieces
-
1 green bell pepper, chopped into 1-inch pieces
-
1 red bell pepper, chopped into 1-inch pieces
-
1 cup barbeque sauce
-
1/3 cup honey
-
1 teaspoon chipotle chili powder
-
½ teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions:
Preheat grill to 400 degrees. Mix barbeque sauce, honey, chipotle powder and garlic powder together in a bowl. Thread chicken pieces and bell peppers onto each skewer and spread the BBQ mixture over kabobs. Place skewers on the grill for about 10-15 minutes and rotate every 4 minutes.
Serving size: 8 kabobs
